Dude, you're really missing the point here. Even if your gun(s) were lost in a tragic wife accident, you still need a gun safe. They are heavy enough that they wont get hauled off, especially if you bolt them to the floor. You'll discover you have other shit you want to put in it as soon as you have it at home.

If your goal really is just to hold some miscellaneous cash and nothing else, they do sell fireproof boxes that can be locked....you just have to hide it really well in the case of robbery. I had one when I was married. Of course, my then wife cleaned it out right before she filed for divorce.

Liberty is, in my opinion the best on the market. The seven-footer by
three and a half ft is what I got. It's not going anywhere. All made in USA.

I have a small safe in my office at home; but it's bolted on three sides inside a piece of furniture. If the thieves found it, it would take half an hour to chop or saw it out; the home alarm should prevent them from having that much time.

I compare it to my wife's shoe collection, before she moved in she had no room for more shoes, she moved in and got a much bigger closet, I think it took less than 6 months for the new closet to be just as full.

Same with a home safe, if I had one, hypothetically it took less than a year to exceed the capacity.

I am surprised no one has mentioned about mounting a safe in the basement exterior wall, and hiding the door behind a heavy couch or even a curtain....

here in Florida most houses are single story/concrete floor, find a closet in a carpeted bedroom, cut the floor, line the hole drop in a steel box and finish off with a flat steel door/lock put the carpet over it set the shoe rack over it....

or dirty laundry basket......

Listen they are like locks, they keep honest people honest. Trick is to hide it and have it bolted down to floor or netter yet into concrete.
Any cash it there is unknown to the government and good to have for the Zombie attacks

If I had any I would have two. One would be a medium security rifle cabinet that held a few thousands rounds of ammo and a couple of lesser expensive rifles, holsters, and accessories. Bait, as it is.
The other would be old and heavy with a dial mechanism, about two feet tall, a foot and a half wide, and two feet deep. Fire rated, of course. It would take two people to lift it in and out of a vehicle. One would need hand truck to get it in the house. Bolt it to floor and wall in the corner of a closet. It could hold half a dozen pistols with loaded magazines, three full ammo boxes and a dozen or so boxes of assorted ammo along with an inside drawer that could hold jewelry, car titles, keys and a few k in cash.
The money will only matter for a little while but the extra ammo and weapons would be a great boon when TSHTF.
If I had one, of course.

As of last Christmas the gun cabinet idea was exchanged for an 18 gun Liberty. 400 lbs, and bolted through the floor. Big enough to hold four AR's, a 12 gauge, two .22 rifles, two 9mm and two .22 pistols, and 8k rounds of misc. ammo. If I had one.

You realize that what kills countries economies is inflation right? So you're better off to buy something of value like gold or diamonds and keep it in a safe, rather than what might become useless paper currency.

I've owned 3 safes, and the best one was a small in floor safe that was nor only cemented into the floor, but bolted to the lower slab as well. small and deep. About 10in square and 20in deep.

Very similar to this only square, not round......
