memory foam beds
Well I made the biggest mistake in buying a memory foam bed, bought it from a beds only type place and the salesman raved about it,we have one in the camper and I love it,the problem with this one is we wake up in sweats every night. never had that problem in the camper, anyone have a solution, after spending 3K for this thing I hardly want to go shopping again.I wonder if there is a cooling mattress cover that might work.

We got one last summer. I'm still not convinced it was worth that much money. Did they talk you into the extra mattress cover? We took the extra mattress protector off after a couple of weeks. It's better now but there is an adjustment period.
Or it could be menopause. |

Yea the mattress cover came off the first night, anything that keeps moisture out keeps air out so off it came ,very little difference. I hate to drop the temp in the house just to sleep better but unless I can find a solution that may happen, your right about the value, live and learn.

John laughed at my theory but I'll tell you. We got our mattress last August. I could feel the heat coming off of it when it was delivered and they took the plastic wrapping off. I think the mattress had absorbed all the heat from the enclosed delivery truck. I put two box fans in the bedroom blowing on the mattress for about a week. It had that odor too. I didn't put sheets on the bed. I just let air out. We slept in another room. We even seriously discussed returning it. It's better now but like I said, I'm not convinced it was worth that amount of money.

If it dosen't get any better we may end up buying another type,it felt so dayum comfortable in the showroom. My daughter tells me that sleep number has a mattress cover that heats and cools,I may look into that ,she says it will fit any mattress.Boy I remember the days of the waterbed,it took on the temp of the room and always felt cool in the summer.

The heat issue is pretty well known on the memory foam beds (although sales people wont usually mention it) Google is your friend

I've had a memory foam bed for about 10 years or so. Sometimes it gets hot, sometimes it doesn't. I have yet to lay on a more comfortable bed though. I have a ceiling fan above my bed so it doesn't affect me as much.
I think that's why some new memory foam bed manufacturers include this new gel top thing with the mattress. It's supposed to keep cool, or so they say. |

I love mine. Have you put a regular mattress topper/cover on it?
I paid 550 for mine from amazon. Tried the $408 queen for my guest room, loved it so much, we bought the king on for our master. |

I guess now would be a good time for me to make a Bamboo Bed, with a Straw mattress thread.

There are to basic types of foam, the Chinese-made type that is quite dense, and the USA-made type that is about 60% less dense and doesn't contain any volatile chemicals. BedInABox.com sells the USA foam and it's awesome. They sell some foam toppers that are specifically designed to be cool. You can easily put one of their blue gel toppers on your mattress and it will be fine. Probably.

I've been through high end spring mattresses, sleep number beds and memory foam beds.
The best sleep I've had by a long margin has been with the Serta iComfort bed with adjustable bases. iComfort They use a gel in the memory foam that eliminates the heat issues and keeps it from getting stiff in the cold. They gave us a 6 month full return policy so I had to try it out. That was a year ago and we are both really happy with our beds. Scott

If you're a dog lover and they're all female, adding the wife, getting up and down, in and out all fkn night to pee, might as well get a one from Goodwill.
