My idea on how to protect our schools

I'm very sure that in most parts of the country, there are teachers/school personnel who have CCW permits or are otherwise gun owners. Take said people, put them through the same psych eval that the FBI uses (which should already be done for people who are around our children every day). Those that qualify are then sent to a certified "police type" firearms training. Hold them to a higher standard, same as we do police officers. Don't make it public which people are carrying, but make it known that there are armed faculty members on the grounds. Without a doubt had the front office staff at Sandy Hook been carrying, the shooter would not have made it past the security doors that he shot his way through. I'm also reasonably sure that this kid would have never targeted a school where the teachers were armed as a target for his aggression.

What about movie theaters? Shopping malls? Subway stations? Places of employment? Etc, etc? Gonna post guards at every entrance to every place that people gather? How many guards? Enough to survive a 30 round magazine?

that's what CCW permits are for. and 30 round mag or not, one shot to the center mass or head of a shooter and he's done. typical anti-gunner, can't think past the first order. Have you noticed that most of these mass shootings happen in areas designated "gun free"??????

I carry in all of the above except work, where my firearm is stored in the car.
I'd like to be able to carry at work though. We do have security that does not carry, and it's pretty tough to get past the 1st floor, but not impossible.
In a mall or theater situation, I'd immediately take a defensive position, and wait for my actual life to be threatened, to shoot.

I definitely think there should be trained and armed faculty at all schools. Last week's events were further proof that evil will happen in small towns, and in the smallest of schools with the youngest of victims.

They can try and stiffen gun laws as much as they want, but psychos and criminals will still get their hands on them. What will put an end to attacks are more and more good citizens who are armed and trained and ready for anything.

I carry everywhere....because you never know. There's only me and one other girl in my office, and you can bet, we are both carrying. Lots of crazies out there.

I agree wholeheartedly on this. And yes, put a few armed security guards in strategic places all over. Give them an order to fire if fired upon, or to end a spree if it takes places beyond their post. Hell yes, we need to take America back from these nutjobs, and make it the best country in the world again!

If a campus needs to go into lock down, any staff member can punch a button and every door in the place automatically shuts and locks but each door can only be unlocked from inside that classroom, so that room's teacher has the ability to get their kids out if need be.

Great idea as well. We service nightclubs and bars. They have these type locks on their exterior doors for a reason. You have to speak and look into a call box from the outside to gain access.
