Default If I wanted a 3v 5.4L ford engine, where should I go?
Thankfully it's not my headache, but Karens boss just burned up his 5.4 in his expedition. Anybody with any experience buying rebuilt motors online? I understand rod knock is very common on these motors so a rebuild is probably a better option than junk yard.

What year and what options? Dad and i just replaced one in a 90's Merc Cougar that we found at the junkyard. Wait... that was a 5.6 I think. never mind.

it's a 2006, 2wd. the 3v pretty much narrows the motor down to a few model years (04-06) I think.

You could ask Red to find one on Craigslist as long as you don't mind that the previous owner put 300,000 hard miles on it, used toothpaste as a lubricant, and let it marinade in the ocean for two years. Other than that, it's like new.

I've bought parts from them before, but never an engine. In my experience, they're pretty fair. They also sell their engines on ebay with the shipping included in the price, so you might take a look there.
