Is it fair that Liberals are rarely (if ever) labeled as racists when they make glaringly obvious racial statements... while Conservatives are consistently labeled as racists even when making statements that are clearly not racial at all?

It's not so much as what is fair, it's a tactic used by the left to change the subject when they know they have been beaten.

Take Schultz's calling Romney's acceptance speech as being racist for example. It was a good speech where Romney called out osama for his failed policies so he was labeled as racist.

Racist is something most people will do anything to keep from being called as it's become a made up dem social issue.

But more and more they are being called on it and the more they use it, it is proven they are the ones who have race on the brain. so I say, bring it on call me a racist, I have many examples in my life that proves that attack incorrect.

This is not an issue of fairness. Since when is the world fair? Debating fairness in politics always ends up sounding like Jr. High kids bellowing NOT FAIR when the other team brings a 6'-9" Sophomore to the basketball game.

The post using the term 'spade' for black folks, reminded me of a great old time cartoon from maybe 40-50 years ago.....I can remember the characters were drawn as having long black faces in shape of a spade or shovel and huge white eyes.....can't remember the plot, but at the time it was pretty funny....

maybe even was a cartoon series on TV?? this was WAY before any internet....

any old farts recall anything like that?? wonder if it was a side show to some hollywood production....

I disagree. Bitching about Asian women drivers is embracing a racial stereotype, but it's not racism. Neither is avoiding a group of thugged out black youths. In the case of the former, stereotypes exist for a reason. It may be unenlightened, bordering on ignorance, but it's not racism because it has no effect on that person. The latter is self preservation. Its no different than avoiding a group of hells angels. Institutionalized racism is all but dead in this country. Individual prejudices are alive and well in all people, in one way or another. Our government has gone too far in stripping our individual liberty in regards to our own businesses and our own property. Case in point; if i own a rental house, I should have last say in who I rent to, period. If you pull up in a caprice on 26's I'm not renting to you, I don't care what color you are. But if I happen to turn down a black person because I have a feeling they will be a bad renter, due to the gold teeth/way they dress/pimp mobile but not directly the color of their skin, then I am discriminating. It's BS.

Agreed, but it's not as openly practiced as it once was. You wouldn't dare relegate blacks to the back of the bus, or to separate eating areas, but racism still occurs.

Exactly, having an opinion is not racism, everyone is entitled to one. Your actions define racism, not your opinion.

No they are words, anecdotal, and they have no affect on the supposed discriminated against. Now if you asked a random Chinese person in the grocery store a laundry question, that might be questionable move. If you did not hire an Asian woman as a delivery driver, because you don't think Asian women can drive, that would be racist. I still feel that your entitled to do that if you wish. Of course the Asian woman could tell her whole Asian community and it could negatively affect your business.
