Bah... for what it costs to do a UGR R8 you could have an '04/'05/'06 UGR TT Lamborghini Gallardo... better looking car, longer development life on the Twin Turbo conversion, faster result for the same power...

I think that might be SW's R8... don't know if he is still a member over at CF or not.

Edit: Nope, it's not SW's. Just realized I read about this particular car last year.

I do wonder why Heffner has done several TT R8's, but UGR has only done the one...

Holy hell. Wonders how long the drive train can stand that. I am willing to test it to find out.

UGR's higher level builds, Stage-3 and the Race Spec, include fully built bottom ends, re-geared transmissions, and hardned driveline components. There are 1200+hp Gallardos running around with 15K or 20K miles on the builds. The Motec boost-by-gear system helps as well, allowing the driver to get the car through the lower gears without blowing off the tires, before full boost becomes available.

The weak point is clutches. The Gallardo/R8 clutch is really only good for 800 to 900hp. Running the big boost levels and getting 1200 or more horsepower requires a carbon ceramic clutch or a full race clutch.

The UGR builds have a reputation for being bulletproof and user friendly. The cars behave as stock at normal driving speeds, and only become truly vicious when you plant your right foot.

Impressive engineering, but proof positive that Italians>Germans regarding body design. That car is just hideous.

While I agree that Italians have more romance in their design (hands down)....

You think the R8 is hideous?? Seriously???

I don't at all.

I don't find anything aesthetically pleasing about that car at all. It looks like a cross between a Dodge Neon, an old 350Z and some sort of kitchen appliance.

Pretty quick.

A little out of my budget so I'll guess I'll stick with my beer can.

Well, at least someone agrees with me on the R8. The design has no flow front to rear, and it has all of the character of a partially used bar of soap.

Sure makes groovy noises and goes real good though...
