Can you post up a regional race schedule or send me a link please.

As soon as the fuel lines and brake lines get done...electrical is next and then a new coat of paint. The wires are hanging because my brother was trying to trace down a bad ground. It doesn't have to look pretty just get me back on a track...SAFELY
Heck when brought it home...we called it the skittles-mobile because it was so colorful

you can get a gallon of paint, any color you like, at homey depot for about $25, and spend a pleasant afternoon rolling it on (do it in the shade if you can). no overspray, affordable, and looks fine from 25' away.

hot pink?

blaze orange?

Its a disposable track rat...but it will be sprayed red again. Surprisingly it is solid. Goal is to start tear down in 2 weeks.

That's the game plan!
Brakes-replacing entire system from calipers to lines. Fuel system same thing-tank to lines. Then the steering but that will be done by RaceLabz. The safety equipment will be the final thing done:harnesses, window nets and personal safety gear.

Where are you at?

I know a bunch of RX7 drivers and shops.

Brakes are a personal preference. Carbotech, Hawk, Performance Friction all are good places to check.

Probably the best thing about driving a Mazda...

Go to MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT - Home Page

Sign up and register as a builder of a project. You will get new factory parts at a huge discount off of retail. If you want used, there are pretty good sources out there as well.

You are near the NNJR for SCCA. I am in the WDCR, which is the region directly south of you.

Here are sites for both:

Northern New Jersey Region - Sports Car Club of America

WDCR Home

Here's your NASA region:

NASA NorthEast Region - Safe, Affordable Way to get on the Race Track

Download rulebooks from the organizations. They will provide valuable data for building a safe and legal car.

Wow, and here I thought you were building a Miata. My memory and inattentiveness to detail is really failing me today. I can think of 3 people off the top of my head who can answer any question about first gens.

Ok...
The site I use for scheduling is NESCCA. However, the SCCA sold the rights for registration to Motorsportsreg. Of course you can use Motorsportsreg as a schedule as well. I liked the old one better, but it works and you still have the option to pay at the track.

I do have 4 wheel disc brakes. I'm running Hawk blues in the front and blacks in the rear, or maybe it's the other way around.

I'm running a butchered exhaust. I had a new header built last week because the old one literally fell apart. I have a resonator, but I'm sure it's blown out by now. I'm running a dynomax muffler. It's the second one and it typically lasts about 2 sessions before the welds split. It's currently being held together with tightly wrapped wire. They all sound like weed-eaters, hell, you have to put 2-stroke oil in the fuel.| | | ISC RACING HOME PAGE WINTER HAVEN FL | | | makes one of the best exhausts you can find for these cars. I don't know if he is still producing them or not. Ask very nicely.

The first thing I notice in the pictures is the battery cut-off. A corner worker may have trouble finding it there in an emergency. I'd cut the dash panel a bit on the other side and mount it to the rollbar over there. That's just my personal preference. It is legal as it is now.

Is that fire bottle connected to delivery lines or is it just sitting there? I've got fire lines running to the engine bay, cockpit and fuel cell box. I or a corner workers just has to slam the button in the event of a fire. Check the GCR about this.

Other websites I forgot to mention:
Mazdamotorsports like Zip Zap mentioned.
Mazdatrix.com - I've never used them but have heard good things.
Longacre Racing: Precision Racing Tools: Electronic Wheel Scales, Gauges, Pyrometers, Chassis Setup and More! is another good supplier

I ran Solo II until the late 90's in '95-'96 I started to HPDEs with my '77, now I just want to get back to having some fun. The tenative plan is to do a season of autocross to learn this car then do some HPDEs and maybe the Giant's Despair Hillclimb

The fire bottle is just mounted to the cage, it doesn't have a "system". I figured it would be much easier if you saw what the car had. I mean it has been raced, just need to wake it up again.
It does not have a fuel cell as if my memory serves me correctly...it wasn't required in the 90's however I don't know if that has changed...as the most I can remember is it had to be an available option to the car: IE: 12 A can be swapped out for 13B. I basically need a build guide to this car to see what has to be upgraded such as fuel cell and fire system.
