Default Adoption completed!

Our first foster was adopted yesterday! He is an awesome dog, and Kevin just knew I wouldn't be able to let him go. But if I didn't, I couldn't foster another.

When we got him...

https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/o...find-weim.html

Yesterday...

His new owners. Their dog they'd had for almost 12 yrs passed away about a year ago, and they are so excited to have Raider!

I love the boy. Missed him last night and this morning. Wah!!!!

Kevin didn't much like him (Raider's in the red collar.)

When the Rescue group got Raider, he was a stray who weighed 54 lbs. He is now in his furever home....a well loved, very lucky, 71 lb boy!!!!

He is a great dog, and I am sure he will be spoiled rotten in his new home.

Thats pretty great of you guys to foster him.

My dog was at a kill shelter in CT when she was rescued and fostered by a woman/group similar to you. They took her in, spayed her, tought her basic manners, and then we adopted her. 6 years later she's an awesome family dog. We need more volunteers like you guys.

Like I said, mighty damn inconsiderate! Not enough I gotta get used to a new house, new neighborhood, new dishes, where everything is and a two hour longer drive but now I gotta get used to new dogs constantly! I swear!

Just from the thread dates, it appears you had him a little less than a month, and he gained 17 lbs?

That's a lot of kibble!

Congratulations on the successful adoption. Do you think you'll foster another?

He weighed 54lbs when he was first picked up by the rescue group from the shelter several months ago. They kept him in a kennel for a couple of months before we took him in. He probably weighed ~60lbs when we took him in. We fed him 6 cups a day for about 3 weeks to get him looking healthy again, and he got plenty of exercise playing with our dogs all day long.

Liz is picking out our next foster dog today. It'll probably be a zoo again by the time I get home this evening

I've been thinking about getting a dog... It would be nice to go home and find somebody happy to see me.

Good job, Liz. I bet they advertised him under the pre-spoiled section.

Zora (on the right) approves! They are such great dogs if you don't mind never having any personal space again. I think I have a permanent indentation of the side of his head on my hip. He is 10 now and we are thinking of adding another dog to the mix.

He is awesome, and I would LOVE to have kept him. But I don't have room to have three big dogs AND foster another!
