Yep. As a matter of fact, last time I had escargot was with some turtle soup on the side. Decades ago, in San Francisco. Both were delicious. Mostly because garlic and butter.

...On our Honeymoon in Aruba 51 years ago I told my wife for dinner that night, everything I order was going to be something I never had before.
I ordered escargot,turtle soup and frogs legs.....Trying new things doe not scare me. I had them that one time and will probably never have them again willingly.

I was swinging round SE Asia on may way home from Nippon, ended up in Laos, as yet undiscovered the hordes of riff-raff out there today, and by luck was put up for free by a bunch of French teachers (French ex-colony), one of whom was Monique. We hit it off & she invited me to her parents' home in France when we all finally got back to Europe.

So I did, & found a warm welcome, and LOTS of food (boy how the French can eat). On the table one day were the dreaded snails, cooked in butter. I ate a couple, just to show the flag, but can't say they were particularly good or bad.

Never had the ****ing stuff since though.
