Took Ringo home to Denver, I miss that guy

Ringo was a pound rescue by my middle daughter eight years ago.
Ringo was not her first choice, her first choice was reserved by another.
GOD works in great ways, obviously Ringo was the BEST choice.

Ringo lived in our family home for the last seven years, my daughter spent here last six months in FL with her boyfriend, she visited Ringo weekly.
When my daughter moved to Denver two years ago, she told me she would like to get settled there, get a house with a big yard, and take Ringo home.
I knew the day would come, I never challenged her wish, it is HER dog.

On Friday we took a flight with Ringo, he was perfect in his carrier for 5+ hours.
Meet my daughter on the way from the airport to our accomodations, Ringo was excited to see her again.
Saw him on Saturday and Sunday, he looked great, my daughter has another dog about the same age and size.
Saying goodbye on Sunday night crushed me, BUT Ringo is doing well, tearing their drapes of their rods, and chasing grasshoppers in the backyard.

Damn, the things in life that bring you the greatest joy are not always permanent, but you can hold the memories forever.

I think I will be racking up many frequent flier miles going to Denver,,,

Here is my boy, he will always be my boy!!

Dont know the whole story, but seems a little selfish of your daughter. I mean, she already has a similar dog and Ringo has lived with you all for I think you said 7 years. She should have just let you keep him. Just my opinion....

Thanks, I have many mixed feelings and emotions.
If it were one of my other two daughters I may not have been so agreeable.
This middle daughter is the apple of my eye, she has always been the most loving and understanding, she gets my heart today if she needs one.

Dolly will miss him the most, but she now has Elvis, who is a damn good replacement.

Dogs are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Cats are proof that God has a sense of humor.

Nott getting much better, Monday night and last night were very rough, as Ringo always waited for me to go upstairs to bed; wifey heads up a couple hours earlier than me.
Ringo would always sleep between me and the wifey, at the top of the bed, gave me many kisses before he went to sleep.

Dolly, the last two nights, has been respectful of Ringo's place / space, and will not come up from her usual spot at bottom of bed, hopefully this will change.

Your daughter probably has no idea of the grief you are suffering. If she's the daughter you say she is, I bet if she saw this thread she would give him back to you.

And I would fly out in an hour to get him, but it has to be her choice, not a forced one.

I am thinking of getting a third dog, as Dolly and Elvis are damn good, but I want to save a dog from a rough life, as Ringo was a rescue.

It may take me a few weeks to get my emotions settled, but I am realizing this could be the only cure, not much of a task or burden to adding a third dog.

See if you can negotiate some kind of custody sharing agreement. Like maybe they come for Thanksgiving at your house, and the Ringo stays until they return at Christmas. Stuff like that. It would be a fun excuse to have the family together more often.

I can always help her buy a house here, but she seems happy in denver.
