Years ago I saw a film of the raid and it was clearly evident that the ATF fired first, starting the whole mess.

While I agree that the ATF almost certainly fired first (which FWIW, I do not agree with), I remain unconvinced that the BD did NOT set the fire themselves. It was pretty clear they were not intending to be taken alive.

Maybe....but if they just wanted Koresh, he was a gearhead and always in town at the auto parts store. He easily could have been arrested off site if that was their intention.

It was a cluster****, went terribly wrong, the kids being killed is what bothers me the most, kids in play should always dictate all and any actions

koresh was a HUGELY pos, only cared about himself, he should have released the kids and others that wanted to leave when the siege started, he is still burning in hell!!

Let me ask you.....does it make any sense that a group who correctly predicted the government would come for them, who successfully repelled an initial armed invasion, would just suddenly give up and commit suicide by immolation? I mean, let's say these people accepted that they were going to die. Why wouldn't well armed, committed people choose to go out on their own terms, guns blazing, on their feet, fighting the government forces?

If I was in that situation and my life was already going to be forfeit, I think I'd want to take some of the people who killed my group with me, or at least go down shooting. That didn't happen.


The government shot in incendiaries with those tanks, and the wooden building they were in didn't hold up well to multiple fires.
