Default Today is the first day in my sleep marathon

I haven't taken any time off since December when I caught Norovirus in Wyoming. Which was great fun. Three days on an IV spewing out both ends like a sprinkler from hell - followed by three days of driving home to Texas.

Thank God my little brother is a heart surgeon. He kept me from having to show up at the hillbilly ER by bringing and administering IV fluids and Zofran anti nausea meds.

Since then I've been working 7 days a week to build my business in between hospitalizations (two this year so far...) produce the Revue, flying to places for work (exhausting for me) doing press interviews, phone ringing off the hook, endless meetings and details.... and hanging on by a thread physically and mentally.

Last Friday I hit the wall. I got up at 7am. Worked until 9:30am then couldn't work any more. My brain said "**** this. I'm outta here" and I went back to bed and slept until 2:30pm.

Got up for a client meeting (they rescheduled) back in bed at 4pm slept until Saturday morning.

Slept 16 hours Saturday.

Slept 14 hours Sunday.

Slept 9 hours today with at least 5 hours to go

I'm going to take off and sleep 15 hours every day this week.

Anyone ever do this? Did it work to give you energy?

I'm hoping it will help me beat this depression and fatigue. I think I'm just damn tired.

The only time I worked that hard was in my younger days, and we used Cocaine. But that probably wouldn't apply here.

Seriously, getting some rest can't hurt, and I hope it works for you. Keep us posted.

Best of luck Pete during your "recharge".

As 04 commemorative wrote, keep hydrated and make sure to eat.

Hydration is a challenge for sure. Tomorrow I get 2 liters with my treatment. But I do need to do better with drinking. Problem is, I drink, lie down amd 15 min later I'm up to pee.

Hmmm, diapers?

Have you considered coaching in the NFL?

When I sleep too much it makes me more tired, and I start to feel weak physically.

Hope you figure it out Pete......best of luck.

Read up on Hypersomnia.

No, I tried working in Silicon Valley in the 80s. I swear that place was built on cocaine. I literally worked for employers that would provide it if you worked overtime. This was pre-Starbucks, remember.

When I had my concussion I was sleeping 16-18 hours per day for about a month. Maybe longer.

I was really messed up.

I would suggest instead of that much sleep just try and find a way or place where you can be completely disconnected from the world for 3-5 days. I've found that to be a great way to recharge.

Day 2 (4 if you count Sat. Sunday)

Headed to cancer center for treatment. It takes about 5 hours so I'll sleep ( they give benedryl plus I pop a xanax). Then I'll come home and sleep another 4-5 hours.

I am feeling better so far when I'm awake. I wish I could go somewhere and be disconnected but not possible. I'm not checking email or taking calls.

So I'm pretty disconnected. I like having my family and dogs here.

Operation Sleep For Days has been interrupted by a surprise visit to ER. Wicked abdominal pain. Dang it. I hate this place. However I am on morphine now so there's that.
