Anyhow, what's this piece called, how much does it cost to replace and what's behind where I put the red dots? I am thinking of putting 2 switches there fyi.

Knee bolster, and I don't recall anything being located there, but it's been a while since I had mine off.

Panel is not that difficult to remove, it can be fished out w/o having to remove the radio bezel which overlays it by the ign switch. ( here's how )
Or, just pop out the hatch button switch and stick your finger in there.

Not an expensive part to replace if you can find from a salvage parts source or wrecked car part-out, maybe $50 tops.

If you were to 'replace' it you would have to replace the vinyl piece and the lower knee bolster since they are 1 piece.

I melted/broke the tabs on the back when I did the micro-suede mod and it was a PIA to get re-attached to the knee bolster. I thought I had pics online, but I think I deleted it.

Thanks guys. Seems kind of dumb that it's part of the knee bolster but now that you mention it I do remember taking it off to install my hyperflash harness.

That's what I'm thinking. I'd put them in the ash tray like everyone else but my ipod lives there.

Gotta ask why when you have that bottle right behind the seats. Where are your switches by the way?

Mines in the ashtray. I ordered the C5 specific switch plate. 4 switches, plus the center plunger that controls the purge. I have it wired so that all I have to do is hit one switch. This activates the microedge, and that controls everything. Fuel, N20 noids, everything.
