Reading this thread, I can't believe there are still houses appraised at $200K. That's a lot in my neck of the woods, and not a very big one at that. I also can't believe some of the property tax rates. A $12000/yr bill out here would involve about a Million Dollar home.

Thing that bugs me is that they claim prop taxes support the screwals, well ok, so how come Clay Co. Fl. screwals are better than City of Jax/Duvall Co screwals, and yet our prop taxes are supposedly a lot less??

much less compared to other regions in this nation.....I get a 300 buck actual tax bill/year and same stupid 150k house in say a burb of Wash DC costs 600k and prop taxes of 6 grand or more.....and the screwals are the same....

that's because the school money in Clay Co is less poorly-administered than the other county.
