What's cool is that some of us are old enough to have grandparents that were born in the horse and buggy era, were 12 years old to teenage when the first airplane flew, and lived to see jets fly and watch television. What a time to be alive.

Maternal grandfather died from cancer (don't recall what cancer he had)
Paternal grandfather died before I was born, so I never met him. He had Asthma and was chain smoker. Doctor told him that he will kill himself if he keeps smoking. He smoked cigars.. The combination of Asthma and smoking caused heart failure and he died fairly young. Don't really know what age he died but I'm not sure if he made it into his 60's.

I believe all my grandparents had periods in which they lived without electricity, as even way back then you got disconnected for not paying the light bill.

I'll go one better.

My maternal GG grandfather fought in the Civil War. He lived from 1844 to 1931.

My mom, here on the previous page, DOB 1915, so she was 15-16 when he died. She'd told me she remembered sitting on his lap as a little girl hearing first-hand stories about the Civil War. I never heard anything bad though, and I doubt he would tell her any of those things.

To me, that is amazing. My mom also has ancestors that fought in the Revolution, and they go all the way back to around 1100 AD in northern England.

I will never retire, and when I do I am still going to the office everyday to play golf.
I love the wifey, but 24/7/365 would not work for me.

Be cautious Mr. Rickles, those sweet drinks almost always get you sick.
Beer and scotch, straight and neat, not so much.

Where my grandfather lived was farm country, hills of Nova Scotia. The first time he saw a car, a Model T, he heard it minutes before it passed by the house, then smelled it several minutes later.
