There's LOTS of 78 anniversary editions with little or no miles stashed away. What a joke, originally there were supposed to be 500 made, so the gold rush was on! Then the general made as many as were ordered. It was too bad they weren't a very good car, they were slow, and cushy, mostly automatics. If they were something like an L88 or LT1 they would be in demand. Unfortunately pollution controls and insurance rates killed performance, and dumb safety issues ended the convertibles, during those years.

Perhaps but at least no engine work (knock on wood).

No mention of the box of decals that came with the Pace Car. I'd have put that in the video since it is very important, IMHO.

They were the fastest car made in America back then so I'm not getting your point.
If you wanted a NEW American car, which was the fastest, you bought a Corvette.

I'll take your word on that (it being the fastest car made in America at the time), but that's not saying much. That was back when you had to crank (actually start) a car several times to get it going because the gas mixture was so lean. My 80 El Camino had a large engine, but it strained going up a hill. I rented an 80 Mustang that had a top speed of 75.

There is a dealer that has one on their showroom near me with only three or six miles on it. I mentioned it the other day and Phil was telling how many used to be in his car club. Very low mile '78 Pace's don't seem to be that rare.

There was a kid in my High school class that had a brand new '80 TA. He rolled it (with girlfriend) doing over 120mph. They both survived.
His Mommy and Daddy bought him a new '81 as a replacement. He never crashed again as far as I new him.

You should be happy that you rented the Mustang.

That Mustang was no fun driving up the hills in the Smoky Mountains. It was puffing hard!

that's not my point, they were all slow in those years, even if it was the fastest new car, the older ones and the C4 up were and are faster. Relatively speaking, they were DOGS!

NOS hoses don't mean squat at a survivor competition.

That was on the local news Friday night. I just came form an event sponsored by Corvette Mike and people were talking about the car. I had to chuckle at the "started right up" comment since the battery and gas were probably garbage.
