Default Anyone involved or invested in the NCM?

What is going on there? Really starting to think the board of directors is seriously comprised of the wrong people. Hardly anyone on the board has any hospitality, attraction, museum experience with one non profit guy.

No CEO for 5 months…2 fired in the last few years. Toxic board?

I have no problem with their expenses, they are very inline. What I dont understand is the constant turnover in the CEO position. Firing Sean made sense but the last one? That was a head scratcher, perhaps when the 2023 books come out there will be clarity.

I had my classic car insurance through them and they paid a $65,000 claim - no questions asked, and I was a member for a few years; its not a theme park attraction, just a museum with a niche audience. Not sure what people expect.

Anyone able to run that thing in the black deserves a lifetime dictatorship.

This statement alone explains why the board is likely compromised of the wrong people. Born out of complete ignorance of the industry. A museum is absolutely an attraction, especially when it has a destination restaurant and a race track as part of the offering.

You think the 225k visitors on an annual basis all own Corvettes?

The insurance company is a separate line of business…has almost nothing to do with the museum.

Ummm it was in the black in both 21 & 22…top line numbers say it was several million to the good each year but I did not dive into the financials.

The museum was boring and the track layout is mediocre.

I didn't say it wasn't an attraction there Walt, just that it wasn't on the same threshold as a theme park attraction. Reading comprehension is soooo important. And when a revenue source bears the parent enterprise's name it dang sure has something to do with it; e.g. NCMInsurance.

So a quarter million visitors/year to an old car museum and in the same breath complain about the exec board ? Yeah that makes total sense.

That's over 4,300 people each week to a "one trick" venue - I'd say that's not bad - it ain't the Smithsonian. TravelAdivsor gives NCM 4-1/2 stars after thousands of reviews - somebody is doing something right.

We have an aircraft attraction 10 miles from me "Fantasy of Flight" with a restaurant, flight simulators and amazing airplanes not far from "Dinosaur World" - niche attractions with limited appeal to people coming into the area to visit Legoland, Disney, Universal and Sea World (and the wife worked at Disney in charge of the Shades of Green military on-property hotel renovation.) Fantasy of Flight closed down in 2014 due to poor attendance and it was superbly managed....go figure.

So, tell me all about the industry there oh "guru of the entertainment industry" None of this is to say the NCM leadership couldn't improve.

I was a member for over 15 years, been there a few times and in 05 I made a NCM pick up and drove my new Vert 6spd top down back to upper NY state. Me and the Mrs 6spd got a descent sunburn in spite of clothes worn and use of sun screen.

Let my membership lapse last year.

Speaking of reading comprehension....

Welcome to the point of this thread...

Why did they fire the last CEO? Attendance and finances appear strong.
What is the board expecting... Wendell Strode to come back?

BTW, boards govern...they don't operate...or they shouldn't. When the board or a chairman start getting involved in daily operations you end up with SeaWorld. That's a company that has lost a very large majority of its quality talent in the last few years. Why? Bc of one man on the board who has single handedly wrecked the culture of the company. Hence its a toxic board...the whole point of my thread.

It was straight from Adam Boca's mouth that the insurance company has very little to do with the museum. Because you live in central Fl and have heard of a few attractions, Im sure you're extremely familiar with IP driven branding.

You were the one that brought the term "theme park" into the mix. I did not.

Wow! Your wife worked at a Disney hotel, clearly you know more than I do. What is it that you do for a living?

BTW Fantasy of Flight isn't closed, they have a seasonal/part time operating calendar...

Anyone set up pre planned funeral? I did a couple years ago. Very similar. You go to a funeral home and pick it all out, pay up and you think it's all "in house." More than likely, it's not.

A few weeks later, you receive a letter you may think is junk mail from some insurance company and trash it

It could be your policy agreement from the underwriters.

My father a undertaker did a bunch of prepays. Note he went out of business late 1980s so possibly a lot has changed.

He did prees as he called them in house. Got together with the people found out what they wanted quoted them a price drew it up as a contract gave the people one copy, kept another copy at the house and a 3rd copy in his banks safe deposit vault. When he went out of business he had one pree left. He made arrangements with a undertaker friend and the paperwork and money went to the new undertaker.
