The NCAA and its five power conferences completed voting Thursday night to approve a settlement agreement that paves the way for universities to pay athletes directly, a change that would crush any last notions of amateurism in major college sports.

The agreement, which covers three antitrust cases, includes almost $2.8 billion in damages to be distributed to current and former athletes, who sued in House v. NCAA over not being compensated for the use of their name, image and likeness (NIL) on television broadcasts. But no matter how high the damages are, the most far-reaching component of the settlement terms is a new revenue-sharing model, which would pay athletes a cut of money their schools generate from broadcast rights deals, ticket sales and sponsorships, among other streams.

How about we call for dismantling the NCAA, ban college athletes from receiving any recompense over and above a free ride, and push for a pro athlete salary cap not to exceed the salary of the President of the United States? Perhaps then ticket prices might fall to levels not requiring selling a kidney, college athletes might concentrate a bit more on the learning aspect of matriculation and actually graduate as fully literate adults. You know... playing a sport might start to look more like a job than a winning lottery ticket.

Your dollars go to fund the state colleges and universities, they never have a profit.
Your dollars go in grants and studies to ALL schools, the private liberal shitholes are very good at increasing this amount every year.
Your dollars pay for the student loans, as more than most have crap degrees not marketable in the real world.
Your dollars go to liberal professors who make as much through advisement to gov agencies as their W-2 from their employer.
