How many posts per page are you set to?

User CP > Edit Options > Number of Posts to Show Per Page

If 100, try reducing that to 60 or 40, and see if that helps. Threads with embedded videos in most every post cause a very high CPU load when the page is loading. Reducing posts per page naturally reduces the number of videos that are loading, and less load on your device.
