I drove twice a week to the table tennis club in Tampa which was 80 miles round trip each time I went. Parents used to have a condo in Clearwater, 50 miles from where we live and when they were in town for about 4 months every year, we drove every week 100 miles round trip to see them.
We also like do dine out. Our favorite Restaurants are at least 8 miles away, some of them over 20 miles. Back when the kids were smaller, we went almost every weekend to Orlando for the kids to go to places like "Monkey Joe's" etc. etc. I also frequently went to the table tennis club in Orlando to play on Friday night. The club was 60 miles from my home. We also drove once or twice a year down to South Texas and sometimes to Mexico (Tampico). We drive to South Florida about 2 to 3 times per year as well for shopping and dining. That's 500 miles round trip each time.
I think the best part of your arguments is that you not only sit down for an hour at a time when you go to McDonalds, but in addition to that, you go to Walmart over 150 times a year... and you actually seem to think that's "normal".

8 miles away (16 miles round trip), average speed of 30 mph = 32 minutes per trip x 3 trips - 96 minutes PER WEEK driving back and forth to WalMart.

You spend 83 hours per year... driving back and forth to WalMart. But 15 minutes changing oil a few times a year is too much?

All I'm saying is that if you change your own oil, your total time is more like 30 mins even if the actual work is 15 mins.

My usage pattern hadn't changed with EVs. We buy lots of fruits, vegetables etc. that are best consumed fresh. Can't just stock up on those items as they get spoiled or lose freshness.
With 2 kids in the household, we always need something.

...and how much time do you spend on apps looking for places to charge, messing with cables, and every other thing associated with your car?

You really claimed that not having to take a shower was a benefit of an EV.

Just when I think your arguments can't possibly be dumber, you manage to prove otherwise.

I already know where my local chargers are. On road trips, the car knows all Superchargers and I can browse food options at each location WHILE DRIVING to decide which one to stop at.

Wow.

Just... wow.

Let's assume that each trip is relatively quick (since you do it 3x a week) and would be 45 minutes or so counting checkout, walking, etc.

You do this 3x a week. In addition to spending an hour at a time eating McDonalds, you spend ~200 hours a year... at WalMart. But an oil change is an overwhelming inconvenience.

And you think that's NORMAL?

One of my favorite words is perspective. Spending 83 hours/year driving to & from Walmart while whining about how much time it takes to get the oil changed twice/year is a very interesting perspective. I'd slit my throat if I had to go to Walmart 150 times/year.

Exactly.

Sitting for an hour at a time in McDonalds, multiple times in a day... no problem.

Spending 1.5 hours PER WEEK driving back and forth to WalMart 3 times and another who knows how many hours actually there... perfectly fine.

Spending an hour PER YEAR changing oil (and taking a shower)... unacceptable.

I think the bar has been raised to a new level.

I challenge anybody to find a better argument than EVs saving the time of taking a shower.

OP - when did you get your current Tesla and how many miles currently?

Last time I checked, we were talking about vehicle related time spent. If you don't like fresh food, it's your choice but it has zero to do with EV vs. gas.
Have you ever kept a banana for more than 3 days? It turns brown and mushy. Not the way most people want them. Most people spend a lot time eating. 45 mins at McDonalds is nothing compared to the time it takes to prepare a decent dish at home, including loading the dishwasher when you are done.

How much time do you spend eating in a day including the time to prepare the food and to clean up after you are done? Humans usually eat at least 3 meals per day and if you eat at home, you likely will spend more time to cook a decent meal.

Since COVID, my driving was cut to like 20k mikes per year. My Kona Electric had 36k mikes in year one which was from May 2019 to May 2020. 2nd year during COVID, I only added 22k more miles. I stopped playing table tennis since and no longer drive to Orlando or South Tampa every week. I only work 3 days office and 2 days from home.
Approaching 38k miles on the Plaid and still over 1 month to 2 years of ownership. I will be around 40k miles after 24 months.

Just to add. Eating out at a Restaurant is enjoyment for me, not a burden. I enjoy eating out regardless where I eat. No matter if it is a fast food place or a fancy Restaurant, I do enjoy eating out. No dishes to be washed and I get exactly what I want. When I go to the drag strip, I often have to wait an hour between passes. It's not wasted time because I wait for something I enjoy doing. It's like likes at a theme park.

Are you really comparing preparing, cooking, and cleaning up after a home cooked meal... to eating at McDonalds?

Today, I made nice filets for my wife and I along with some grilled veggies and baked beans. I simultaneously made burgers and Mac and cheese for the kids. Total time to prepare, eat, and clean was significantly less than an hour.

You spend that time SITTING IN McDONALDS.

I sure as shit don't spend an hour each on breakfast and lunch.

No normal human spends 3 hours a day eating. Nobody. No normal human being sits in a McDonalds for an hour at a time.

What in the actual hell does cooking a nice meal at home have to do with sitting for an hour in a nasty ass McDonalds because you have to wait for your shitbox to charge long enough to get you a couple of hours down the road to the next nasty ass McDonalds?

You are absolutely delusional... and it's all because you really can't bring yourself to admit the negative aspects of a car. Let that sink in for a moment. It's a car. It's nothing else. It's a car. You defend it as if someone has insulted your family name. You treat it as a religion. It absolutely defines your entire life. Your entire existence revolves around it. Do you realize how truly absurd that is?

The difference is basically a car payment for a nice $50k car.
Or….
One could buy a gas powered economy car and drive it for 10 years and never pass the cost of the EV.

I only have breakfast at McDonalds amd their Bacon Egg& cheese bagel and buscuit are really good. I do enjoy breakfast at McDonalds. Not a fan of their other offering but their breakfast is very good. You sound like someone who has never been to a McDonalds at breakfast time un front of a busy highway. It is packed and you have to wait either in the drivethru or in the Restsurant. If you are lucky, you only wait 15 to 20 mins to order and get your food. You try to tell me that I changed my life around the EV which is complete nonsense. I have always eaten dine in on road trips, no matter if it's gas or EV. I like home cooked meals but I prefer to eat out just for the simple reason that it's less work. No dishes to wash and wife doesn't need to spend the time cooking. We frequently have Thai, Mexican, Chinese or Italian food. We dine out a lot. For breakfast, fast food works just fine. Anything with bacon and I'm happy. My lifestyle and travel style has remained unchanged. I've eaten out a lot all my adult life.
