In a roundabout way, I built it because she wanted it & she maintains it.

[QUOTE=Bill;2259803]I'm still waiting for both of you to answer a couple of questions. The first question, was the front, accessible yard picked up, was answered, so yes, yes it was. The problem focuses on the locked up back yard.
The pic posted mainly showed a piece of felt.....light weight, easy to blow a few feet over, especially if it's coming off a 2nd story roof. /QUOTE]

On the picture provided its a tad bit more than a light weight roofing felt. I wonder if this is only the material left or if there was more and not provided by the OP

Looks like 15 lb felt (lightweight) and a few other scraps.

The big question is:
Was access to the ack yard restricted? If so a simple conversation with the neighbor would probably explain that they did not want to go in the backyard without permission and now that Slew is home he (the neighbor) will inform the roofing contractor that he can now come out and clean up.

Of course it was restricted. The place is almost a prison.

And if they would have entered the OP’s fenced and locked rear yard they could be prosecuted for trespassing.

Or maybe some of his fledgling tomatoes had broken stalks, which led him to review the security footage to see how it happened? I don't know. I'm just wondering how he would feel if he knew they had gone in without permission.

We were running a forestry mulcher on a PPL ROW next to a house. If you've seen those, it's a messy business. We managed to have most of the chips fall on the ROW, but not all. So I had my guys stop and pick up all the debris from the open front yard, and when they were about done, I knocked on the door to see about accessing the back. I assume at least a little debris might have gone back there, over the fence.

Lady is VERY unpleasant. Why are you on my property? While it should have been evident, and there's no way she didn't hear our machine going full blast, I explained it all to her politely, told her we wanted to make sure her property was fully policed up. No, she wants all of us off her property NOW, she'll have her yard man check the back and clean it up, if necessary. OK, so I apologize again and we leave. Never heard anything back, so I guess she didn't make any complaints beyond telling us to GTFO. She stood outside glaring while we worked our way down the ROW, out of sight.

Like the lady our crew encountered, Slew seems pretty fervent about private property, not that there's anything wrong with that.

A few years ago, AT&T was installing fiber in their easement behind our houses. My newish at the time neighbor was out pitching a fit, because she didn't want to allow the crew to go through her gate to get to the easement. Somebody called the police, and AT&T supervisors showed up, and after a big pow wow that went on for a long time, she eventually let them in.

I pulled one of the guys aside and offered him my ladder to simply go over my fence, on the easement, eliminating the problem. By that time, I guess they all came to some kind of agreement and the issue was solved. Strangely enough, when I got fiber connected here sometime later, she apparently let them in her yard no problem, to hook me up....I guess their junction box is in her back yard.

Most people just use common sense and understand it's common practice to just let crews enter their property to gain access to their easements, but every once in a while, you get someone that wants to assert their rights, and they need to be respected, just like Slew.

We've put in a couple of low water crossings to get across ditches when were weren't allowed property access any other way. It happens.

I'm very polite with contractors, because I understand the position that they're in. I'll usually offer them water or Dr Pepper, if I have it on hand. Heck, several of the folks on my block, including me, will occasionally offer drinks to the garbage collectors if we're outside. Just courtesy.

Crazy. I have doors on my house that haven't been locked in years. Not only do we not lock our doors at night, the keys to every vehicle is sitting on the center console of that vehicle. Never had an issue.

Liberals, while always touting how they are for the little guy, the common man, in reality they look down their noses at contractors and tradesmen. And typically would never offer blue collar workers anything.

Same reason they have for decades made it clear that all American kids should go to college (especially white kids) and leave the trades and labor to the brown people.

I need to call my insurance company.

It appears one of the lawn workers left a 16oz plastic bottle in my yard.

I hope I'm covered.

This has been my life experience. Most of my extended family fits this description. They think they are brilliant and all-knowing. In actuality, they are white-collar snobs who believe in the Global Warming agenda, that Covid wasn't anybody's fault, and that electricity is clean and comes out of the wall naturally. None of them are pro America or American values and only one of them can change a flat tire (besides myself). We're talking 20-30 people. They value a person with a 6-year degree in underwater lesbian basket weaving as having more value than a tradesman or even a ditch digger. IMO, the more letters you have after your name, the less common sense you have.

I hope you'll recover. I hear it can be quite a traumatizing event. We've been having some wind here and the other day when I went to go into town, there was an empty plastic bag blown up against my gate. I threw it in the back of my truck and went on my way. When I got home, it was gone. I figure someone stole it out from the back of my truck. I didn't report it to my insurance because I didn't want a ding on my record.

Damn. No one respects other people's property anymore.

I forgot to mention, the bottle in my yard looked like it was stepped on. Who does that?
