I had a DT-250. Fun little bike, I used to ride it 25 miles to the local community college in the winter. When it got below about 30 degrees I rode the bus.

Looks cherry. First bike I bought was a '76 XT500. Same bike but a tad bigger. Tried doing a burn out in gravel once and the tire didn't spin. Bike tried taking off without me. Hung on by my finger tips with chest laying on the seat and dragging my toes for brakes... Very embarrassing

I had an experience like that, brand new, freshly uncrated 1975 YZ 250. First "motocross" bike I ever rode. All I could do to hold on when I cracked the throttle. Front end up in every gear, digging a trench all the way.

A good friend did the same sort of thing on his new Husky 390 back in the day. Right out of the pickup truck home from the dealer. The tire didn't spin---the frame of the bike merely rotated upward, using the rear axle as it's axis. The bike made it about 300 degrees as it dumped him on his ass and landed on top of him. Torque is a real thing.

My roommate Mike had that exact bike. He was went down the former railroad bed at Salford Station, grabbed a handful of throttle and it "spit him off".

He broke his collarbone in seven pieces. While at hospital getting examined by the oncall doctor he heard him say " Holy shit, look at this" to another doctor to show him the X ray.

Maike wasn;t the sharpest tack in the box, while his arm was in a sling, he dropped a big block MOPAR starter on his head and ended up with stitches. ( yeah, I ended up taking him to a different hospital ER for that.

Bonus story
Mike was slowly kicking it over to find TDC. Well, the dumbass had the key on and it launched his right shin into the end of the handlebars which had an open end due to a previous crash.
He "punched" a 7/8" divot in his skin from the open end.

I could type for hours all the stupid shit Mike did and somehow evaded earning the "ultimate Darwin award"

Sorry but no go on "the same bike"... the DTs were 2 stroke, the XT is a 4 stroke. Big difference... a TT500 accident caused me to have a piece of my left hip hold my left collarbone together, so I really know the difference. Pine tree 1, markids and a Bell Star 0.
