My royal palms seldom hang a frond for more than a day. Aesthetics and liability play an important role in commercial and public settings. Here is example of a trimmed and natural palm |

Must be a northern thing, down here we have palm fronds, very easy to manage.
As said many times, life is MUCH easier in FLORIDA!! |

In Fresno, we have volunteer palms of all types popping up everywhere. I've removed maybe 6 or 10 of them from my property in the past decade. Birds drop the seeds and they grow like weeds in our climate. The key is, if near a fence or building, to remove them asap. Next time you look, you'll have a 600 pound monster crowding the house, like above.

May 18:
Honeysuckle and lilacs bloom at the same time each spring. Honeysuckles are really a trash bush and there are tons of them just off the edge of the yard. The overly-sweet smell of honeysuckle blossoms, every time I go outside for a couple weeks, becomes sickening after a few days. "Sick" meaning like you just pigged out on some very rich dessert, like pecan pie, and simply are not interested in any more. Honeysuckle: Lilacs: Locust are barely budding out (left) they are slower than black walnut, on the right side. The only thing in the world that smells better than lilac blossoms is locust blossoms (well, there is one other thing that I won't mention) but they're a month away. |

I had a large lilac bush next to my driveway, between the house and barn. It made a huge snowdrift downwind every winter. After the '93 blizzard I made a snow cave for my son, then two. Okay, he helped me a little. It was tall enough inside where I could stand up. |

But the question is: Do magnolia blossoms smell better than locust blossoms? |
