Think about it: what do "they" have to gain by killing this guy after he has already blown the whistle? The secrets are already out in public, so why risk additional prison time for murder on top of all the other charges that are already accruing?

It certainly gives any OTHER potential whistleblower or complainer pause, as in, "maybe I shouldn't say anything, so nothing bad happens to me or my family."
