CAD software is awesome. But I learned how to draft with pencil and paper in middle school, high school, then again in college. Road layouts were done using COGO (the C does not stand for computer), trig tables, and basic math. Checked by plotting on 4' wide rolls of vellum on long tables.
I'd be inconvenienced without a computer, and the work would take a lot more time, but I wouldn't be lost. You, sir, would be up the creek without a paddle. |

And you missed the point as well. Like I said, I retired 3 years ago at 57, and have not yet taken a cent from my tax deferred accounts. I was also a landlord for 15 years, and yes, that is work. In fact, I declared myself officially retired when I closed on the sale of my last rental property. |

Tell us you're delusional without saying you're delusional.
Every chainsaw I've owned was stored on a shelf or *gasp* on the floor. I have no problem admitting I've never tried to store one like it was a dustbuster. |

You sound like one of those "snowflake" people who think "everyone had it easier than I have", when that is clearly not the case. With the possible exceptions of stuff like a major family emergency, emptying out your tax deferred accounts as soon as you are able to do so without tax penalty is possibly the WORST financial decision us regular folk CAN make. But, you do you. Edited to add: When applying for financial aid, the value in your primary home, and the amount you have in tax deferred retirement savings are NOT counted as assets. Just another reason to keep that money in the tax deferred account. |

I just recently bought a Steihl battery saw (12") as due to medical problems its getting harder and-harder to pull start a gas one. No leakage yet of bar oil. FWIW I have only cut up 2 fallen long branches (A 3'' & A4'') but the saw ripped right through it. I will still keep the bigger gas saw if a big/bad enough situation calls for it. |

The 401k is not considered income BUT if I have to pull out money to pay the tuition, it becomes income. So, if I pull it out before she goes to college and then pay the tuition with that money, it's NOT considered income. If I pull it out to have money to pay her tuition, it becomes income. |
