I think I asked previously in another thread, what procedure is the surgeon going to do? Anterior or posterior?
I had anterior done 4 years ago and had little to no pain afterwards and was walking around at a Chili Fest without any kane or walker 3 days after surgery.
My surgeon would write a PT script but was not a fan as he thought too many therapist's got to aggressive.
I had zero post operation issues.
All the best in your operation and recovery.

Damn Craig ... sure hoping you can get this fixed before (prob not) you get that Z. I am looking forward to you driving the crap outta that thing which you can't likely do now.

Glad to hear the news! Last time I saw you I could see the pain all over your face.

Did they indicate what recovery period will look like in terms of downtime?

I think what TheHammer said above is my expectation. It's a fairly quick recovery from what I hear, however, I can't bend past 90 degree sitting position for 3 months.

My neighbor had it done in both hips, once each way, and on his more recent one, he said he went to the grocery store on his own 2 days after the procedure.

My wife's friend had hers replaced a year before me. She did some homework leading up to it. She only found one Ortho in the whole State that would do Anterior and she had to travel 5 hours for it.

From what I gather, reasoning seems to be there is far less working room on Anterior than Posterior.

Good luck and make sure to stick with the physical therapy afterwards.

And if you need somebody to watch over your C8, I'm willing to do the job

It's the twisting action of your body that you want to stay away from. Take getting in the car the usual way of opening the door, sticking your right leg in and kind of twist slide thing into the seat.

This could cause a dislocation. Open the door, sit down sideways in the seat and then spin yourself around.

One other little goodie is if after a few days there seems to be persisting numbness on the side of your thigh, nothing really serious, the nerves are having issues for obvious reasons and the Dr gave me some Gabapentin.

Timing of surgery and delivery of the Z06 will be interesting. May have to have my daughter drive it home.

Yeh, I own a 82. It's a pain in ass getting in and out under normal conditions. When are you scheduled for this?

The good thing is the pain level changes. Reminds me of a nasty toothache leading up to the dentist. Afterwards, you have pain but at a different yet soothing and tolerable level.

You're going to do great, you're young and healthy enough. I'm just curious about the update. After you have it done, will you be able to tell when it's going to rain?

I can always tell when it's going to rain...there's an app for that.

Just got the call back, surgery scheduled for May 28th.

Mine was the same with regard to front/back. He only does posterior, and also will be doing it robotically.
