No one really knows what goes on behind another's closed doors but I've kinda had this suspicion, that she "Mrs. Perfect Priscilla", wasn't quite what everyone assumes of her. He tried but failed, to meet her needs/demands. So deeper and deeper they/he went to keep a BS happy home. Finally, he snapped, seeing no other way out, he'd had more than he could take.
