It would be awesome if they made social security optional. You either pay into it or you use that money for your 401k or IRA. That would be amazing!

Except less than 5% of the population has the discipline to live within their means and build and accumulate wealth. Most people are irresponsible and are living on credit.

There would end up being a bail out for the people who ****ed up and bought Escalades and Tattoos and lottery tickets. Like what's happening now with welfare and reduced power bills and water bills and other incentives for the ****-ups.

Simple math. How much income is lost yearly while waiting on future income you may or may not collect? Take the money the government stole during your working years and invest it during retirement to try and catch up. Use SS to offset pulling retirement funds smartly invested in 401k’s with employer matching.
