Nope. Mice were mentioned before. Since I live in a national forest we have wildlife everywhere, including mice.

The mice got in by chewing through the OSB/ surround interface. I bought this stuff to cover that area. Haven't decided how best to keep it in place. Maybe foil tape used to seal windows under siding.

Check out Mouse Tape, Sold by Honda Motors. Seriously. Had a friend in PA use it and it fixed the mouse/squirrel invasion issue she was having. About $40 per roll, IIRC.

If you're concerned about uplift, then yes you should fasten the carried member. Those fasteners contribute nothing to the dead load capacity.

I saw that- used as a wrap for wire. I don't see it useful for this application.

I am an avid over builder and would add more bracing but that is just me carry on.

But it would bug me not having the hangers fastened to the "soup cans".

The reason why I have repeat business with my contractor clients is that they know I don't tend to over-engineer. The labor installing self-drilling screws into 1/4" steel is bigly. On a ladder, forcing the drill laterally. Just to fill some holes?
