Default It's worse than we thought...

manual transmissions account for just 2 percent (2%) of all vehicles sold in 2018, according to data from Edmunds.com. How many more years do you give the manual transmission to live on new car lots?

Modern paddle shifters now dominate the market. It doesn't look so good... life support ensues.

So if the C8 only comes in automatic, that will accelerate the downfall, as a brand/model, Corvette has a significant number of manual transmissions sold each year. Having said that, Porsche has reintroduced it in several of their models because they screwed the pooch and missed market sentiment.

I guess, at the end of the day, if you own a manual transmission car, don't get rid of it. 20-30 years from now, it will be priceless.

So glad GWiz is one of the last to embrace that technology. All 3 of her cars are manual.

My wife’s 2SS Camaro is a manual. Best theft deterrent on the planet.

Curious as to when this downturn will be recognized as an opportunity for profit by the auto manufacturers and they start charging more for an M/T vs an A/T!

Well, long as we on trannys watt I wanna know is since there is no wasted space in a 200 4r, 700, 4l60, 4l80e, etc......and the clutch packs are a definite wear item, especially in stock form....AND the fact that all auto trans have torque converters.....

just what is the point to cutting down the thickness/durability/wear surface area on the clutches by cramming 6-8 speeds in the housing that is essentially the same size as the early units?? Converter slippage takes care of any gear change, what is the point to making a less reliable tranny and being more expensive too boot???

anyone???

Now on my 7th Vette (6 manuals) and this one is a auto.

Been driving standards since early 1960s and that includes tractor trailers so I'm quite used to rowing the boat. I have a bad left leg and knee, that is the only reason this Vette is a auto. I do miss the manual some what.

All of my vetts have been manual except for my last one the 2016 Z06. Best thing about that car well also the carbon ceramic brakes as well. The 8 speed was great.
