Corvette ZR1 Destroys Dodge Demon...
Had the Demon cut a better 60-foot, it would have been a much closer race but the victory would have still likely have gone to the ZR1 as it still out trapped the Dodge. Not to mention the fact that it cut a blistering 1.60 60-foot time in the process. All of this was accomplished at +500 feet DA, as you can see from the time slip which is pretty good air all things considered. |

That Vette has a Hendrick dealer tag on it. Maybe Mr. Rick had someone breathe on that engine a bit?????

Even if the Demon had cut the same 60' time as the Vette, the Demon would have run, at best, 10.9. Each .1 second on the launch is good for .15-.20 at the end. At best, it would give the Demon a .7 reduction in ETA yielding ~10.9 which is still a good bit slower than 10.2. On the other hand, the MPH is impressive for the Demon. A lot of that is wheel spin off the line. Spin out of the hole kills ET but adds to MPH. The difference in MPH from the 1/8 to the end is substantial. Vette picked up 28 mph Demon picked up 32 mph I'm surprised the Vette didn't pick up more on the big end. I'd guess slow shifting (torque mgmt) or clutch slipping to be the cause. I run mid 10s but pick up 31-32 mph on the big end running NA. That ZR1 would have similar HP but more TQ due to FI which should yield strong MPH gains. Then of course all the other things come into play like rear end ratio, ratio of trans gears, speed of the shifts (manual vs auto) Either way, the Vette handed that Demon it's ass. Scott

I've seen multiple showroom stock Demons in the 1.4X 60' range even with questionable track prep. with trap speeds around 136-137. Dem bitches is NASTY off of the line if driven well.
That's an impressive run by the Vette. There's no doubt about it and I am not trying to take that away at all... but it is nowhere even close to representative of the capabilities of the Demon. Hell, my fat pig, stock power V wagon cut consistent low 1.7X 60' times on craptastic Toyo street tires (at street pressures). I'm guessing that "Drag Radials" written on top of the time slip probably didn't hurt that run for the Vette, although on DRs, I'm actually surprised that the 60' wasn't quicker. |

Out of curiosity, I went over to the Demon forum. This is the 1st timeslip I found and much closer to what I would expect (right lane), although I'm not sure what happened at the big end unless the 2500 DA knocked it down that far.
EDIT: I forgot about "the crate" with the upgraded ECU, etc. It's possible that this car didn't have it and was running in "street" mode. That does make a BIG difference. I didn't do a lot of looking today, but last I saw, a couple of guys have made it into the 9.9X range, showroom stock, including tires, with the crate. Other than DRs, I'd like to know what, if anything, has been done to the Vette to run that 10.2 From the person that posted it:

About a week ago, I stopped at a filling station in the Jaguar. Rumbling up at the next pump was a late model (I'd say 2013 or 2014) Mustang Shelby Somethingorother. This guy and two girls...early 20's or so...pile out of the car. He starts filling his car and they walk over.
Mustang Boy: "Wow those Jags are beautiful!" (girls are silent but just looking in the car) Me: "Thank you...I appreciate that!" One of the girls says "Can I sit in it?" "Sure" I let her in the passenger side. Mustang Boy: "Mine's still much faster though" Me: "Well, I had an SRT Challenger that was pretty quick and I traded for this" Mustang Boy (astonished): "An SRT?? Why did you do that?!?!?!" Me: "Well, I figured I could either tell a bunch of swinging dicks about how fast my car was, or have a hot piece of ass in the passenger seat. Made the decision pretty easy." Girl in the passenger seat yells out: "I told him the same thing but he's too much of a dumbass to listen!" Now...about those timeslips... |
