Not sure how long I'll be hospitalized, but my surgeon says at least for 24 hours. I hope to get out by Friday or this weekend.
It all depends on how significantly my blood pressure drops following the surgery. I'll be monitored closely by a cardiologist and my endocrinologist as they determine which blood pressure medications I can come off and how soon. You have to wean off most of these drugs slowly, can't quit cold turkey lest you risk irregular heartbeat, hypotension and other complications. Theresa is still recovering at home. She filed for government short-term and permanent disability in August, but a decision hasn't been made. Hopefully by November. She hasn't worked since January and doctors do not recommend she return to public teaching due to her delicate immune system. Let's face it, schools and other public facilities are germ factories. And we've seen how a little thing most of us take for granted like a sore throat, cold or respiratory infection puts her in the hospital. Her form of lupus is just that brutal. We sold our house in August after determining we could no longer afford it due to the loss of income. We moved to Fort Knox, Ky. From Louisville so I could be closer to work and save money. We're currently living in a housing unit on post. Theresa and the kids enjoy living in a wooded area, especially seeing the deer and other critters who forage for food around the property. I'm still working two jobs and was about to take on a third as a part-time assembler of gas grills and other items at Rural King, a local farm equipment store, before my surgery was scheduled. Our finances are stretched, but we've kept our family together and I still have my wife, which is the most important thing. Theresa and I tell each other all the time we're going to overcome this temporary setback and all this is happening so that God can be glorified. If anyone here would like to assist us financially, Theresa still has her GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/wst77d5w I also have a PayPal account at [email protected] We're so grateful for the funds we received from VB Forum from social media and Jen Lewis' fundraiser earlier this year. There's no way we could have kept pace with the medical bills we've incurred to date without your help and believe me, they're still coming in. God bless you and know that we are praying for you all daily. We need another Cruise-In or something, don't we? ~Julian |

You and your family is in my prayers. Health issues can wreak havoc on a marriage. Financial issues can wreak havoc on a marriage, too. However, if anybody is strong enough to handle both, it'd be you. Keep strong in your faith, He works in the strangest of ways.
