Kid never listens...

My kid Corey is now stationed at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico. He's been wanting a car and has been shopping for about a month now.

He narrowed his choices down to a C5 of a CTS-V. He already had a FRC that he bought while he lived in with us last year.

So the whole time he's been looking I tell him to run a carfax, pay a GM dealer to go inspect the car, check the value on KBB and Edmunds, and shop for the best interest rate.

He's on his way now to pick up the CTS-V in Denver. Want to guess how many of the things I told him to do he actually did?

Only the carfax. Told me it was clean with one owner.

On top of that, the car he is buying still has a lean on it. Its an 04, so I highly doubt its a one owner car.

He is going to drive the car back from Denver to the base with no tag because the state of NM requires the car to be therre before they issue a tag. I told him they probably require a clear title too which after the guy deposits the check and pays off the car will probably take at least another week or two to get.

Burns my ass that I tell him exactly what he needs to do and its in one ear and out the other. Hope the kid doesn't get burned.

Thankfully I got mine around 26-27yrs old. I found myself saying "My dad was right! He wasn't just being annoying!"

Now at 34yrs old, I find myself saying the exact same stuff he did.

So I just got a call. Cop pulled him just like I told him they would. He didn't pay for insurance before he left. Said he couldn't get through. WTF????

I've bought insurance on many cars before I picked them up. Kids!

Phil, sometimes you just have to say, "What the ****." He is going to do what he wants to do with or without your input. It's not worth blowing an anneurism over. But regardless, don't bail his ass out when he gets it in a sling. He has to find his own way.

I dunno Phil, my daughter age 28 and son age 26 don't make but about 80 grand/year TOTAL, daughter has her masters son has a batch degree....
both are in basketweaving......in other words, Unemployable.....

I told my son to go to law school, become a green weenie lawyer and make a killing of focking up the economy.....seriously....that's what I said....
