FIRST ON THE FORUM: Quick Z06 ZR bumper installed with paint. - Corvette Forum (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-general/2445131-first-on-the-forum-quick-z06-zr-bumper-installed-with-paint.html)

Take a perfectly nice yellow roadster...
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/tonmarchelli/IMG_2675.jpg

And do this to it...

I don't even know where to start with it... not only does it look horrible from a design standpoint... the quality and fit/finish is extremely poor. I can't believe people think this looks ok.

Here's another variat of people wanting to make a Corvette frankenstein... at least this one seems to have good quality and fit/finish.

When I first saw the ZR bumper, I thought it had promise. I guess it just looked good off the car - because when I saw the install pics, something looked totally off. It kinda looks kit a Ferrari kit car or something.

The blue car is better, but the lights just look F'd up.

I'm keeping my stock bumper, I know that for sure!

The bumper on the yellow car is absolutely hideous and destroys the lines of the car completely.

Is that strong enough?

Both of those are terrible! There is no reason to cross the generations like that. Look at the C4's with the C5 body kit.

I don't much care for the blue one either, but since we have a vendor of that product here, I'll be kind and leave it at that. :D

I wasn't too sure of the yellow bumper, didn't look too bad when I first saw it, but on the car, it totally destroyes the lines of the car. The rear bumper hybrid he's producing looks great IMO, especially with the CF diffuser, but I still opted for the SW's rear that's sitting in a coffin sized box in my garage :lol1:

As for the blue one, I like the idea of it, even if it is a C5/6 hybrid. The height of it (off the ground relative to the rockers) and the yellow C6 light ruin it for me. Spear shaped up front, oval on the rear... just :ack:. Now it this was shaved, and a lower front valence up front, like the Z06 or ZR1, I think it would be killer on the market!

You could say the same thing about the tigershark front bumpers too, some people like em, some don't... To each his own I guess, but I won't be shelling out any money for any of those above

Doesn't really seem to flow with the rest of the car but different strokes blah, blah, blah.

Mmm... Does it come with a 60 day satisfaction like the new Chevys? To each there own. One of the nicest things about the c5 is the smooth clean lines.

Doing any aesthetic cross gen blends is a very difficult thing to perfect. I would do drivetrain, I would do brakes, even wheels, but blending the facets of a newer gen vette to a previous gen is just a little too tacky for me. I do admire the effort and fabrication that goes into something like that, but it just ain't my flavor.

BINGO....we all may not like it, but to each their own. If you like it do it, if you don't like it, don't do it...just be respectful to them.

Sorry... stop with all of this "if you like it" crap. The bumper looks like dog*&(^... as Corvette enthusiasts I don't think we should let people accept junk on the market. As someone who's pickey and a former insurance adjuster I can tell you that bumper is flat out junk. The material is junk, the mold is junk, and it looks horrible. Maybe the guys rear bumper will look better, but the front is horrid. You can tell that design and production was rushed and done as quickly/cheaply as possible. It looks like the junk ricer kits you see out there.

That's the problem w/ the Corvetteforum... why do you have to be sweet and nice to everyone? You should be able to call a spade a spade.

I don't like seeing crap brought to market... I think there is a market for a second type of tigershark nose. If you took that blue C5 w/ the C6 nose up there, but made the bumper full C5ish... i.e. smooth out that front crease it'd be a hit... it'd be more like the original tigershark concept.

Part of the problem is the affordability of the C5 now makes it available to everyone - even those without taste.

The same thing happened to cell phones. When my cell phone bill was $500-$800 a month you didn't see every house wife in an SUV barrelling down the highway with a phone attached to her ear.

No no... I get it. It's the natural life cycle of a car. But it's just odd to see everyone on the "make my C5 look different" bandwagon. I do remember seeing one C4 to C5 kit, but it was never popular. These C5/C6 hybrid parts seem to be garnering a good deal of attention on the forums.

Hehehe anyone remember the movie - The Wraith? Check out the widebody C3 w/a rear clip molded on from an 85.....Agh!

We were just talking about that movie on my local car board that I frequent. I remember seeing it back when I was 5 or 6 and not into cars much at all. All I could remember was a black car powered by something purple and neon under the hood.

Lots of people don't like the lights and the front spoiler. Funny thing is, some of those same people think that airbrushing a fictitious winged reptile on your hood is the cat’s pajamas…

You would have loved the ZR-1 at Carlisle that had about 3 things randomly airbrushed on it and a 2' high spoiler off the rear end... The guy thought we were taking pictures because we liked it... yea... right :yesnod:

I think if he had molded in the SW duck tail like I suggested that this butt would be one of the best selling rear bumpers on the market, especially with the CF rear diffuser...

I think those fenders and butt are bad azz. A molded spoiler would have been great, but I guess they can use the Z06 or ZR1 spoilers, right?

Fenders look cheap and tacky... rear looks great. Why? Well because the rear doesn't have any sharp lines that don't translate to the C5 style. Does it utilize the OEM lower black part or did they just mold it all as one part? Please tell me its' the OEM lower facia w/ a new custom upper part.

I'll have to see one in person to see if it's as wavey and bulgey as the front bumper they made... if it's anything like the front then it's junk IMO.

It's the stock OEM lower, but you can get one made in CF too for a lot cheaper than I've seen for the C5 APSIS one. I was debating on this rear for a long time now but didn't want to create a C5/6 hybrid, and just went with the SW rear...

As for the pics in your original post, the reason that bumper looks so poorly installed in the OP is retarded and cheap, and decided to have the body shop paint it and he has been trying to install it for some time now. Just can't get it right! If I were that manufacturer, I would BEG the mods to remove his thread... Literally, Quik Z06 has said in like 5 posts that the OP is cheap and trying to do the bodywork himself :lol1: Don't get me wrong, I think the front looks like crap, but I'm waiting til he puts up pics tomorrow of the rear to see how well it fits after a professional does the job correctly!

Sorry.... based on the fit/finish of that front piece even Chip Foose couldn't make it look right. Nothing fits as far as gaps, it's wavey, etc. etc. No abount of blocking will fix that.
