I'm going to repeat my earlier post and I want to emphasize my experience on hip replacement.
I have 2 brother-in-laws that are anesthesiologists and one is the co-owner of an out-patient surgical center and a sister-in-law that is RN for a orthopedic surgeon. All three of them highly recommended of using a hip orthopedic surgeon that utilized the anterior procedure versus the posterior procedure. Their reasoning was that is was less invasive and quicker recovery. I took the recommendation of the local brother-in-law and had the surgery done on a Thursday morning and was released the following day (Friday). The next day, Saturday early evening, I attended our local chili-fest and was walking around pain free (regular Tylenol use) without use of a walker or cane. My surgeon did not recommend PT and urged me to take things easy. His concern was that many physical therapists can get too aggressive. Datawiz, I don't suggest you change your scheduled surgery as your physician knows best of your condition and hope and pray that everything goes great. I have read many other folks here and back on the CF that have had the posterior procedure. Most have stated that they had a longer and tougher recovery period which was contrary to my experience. My surgery was 3 1/2 years ago. Datawiz I pray that everything goes smoothly and pain free and you can enjoy your new C8. |
