Getting a new roof / figured out how to solve the West's water problem

We decided to get a new roof on our dutch style house. The roof may look nice but great googily moggily does it drive up the labor costs

We're having a local company who hires local people ( MB Roofing ) to do the work. It was supposed to be a two day job.

It rained Sunday night so that meant late start Monday. Tuesday was extremely foggy so another late start plus a late afternoon rain shower. Today it started raining mid morning and tomorrow doesn't look good at all.

I will say they are doing a great job

I figured out how to solve the West's water problem, simply purchase a house for me that needs a roof done and I'll schedule to have a new roof done.

Skylight. It's coming out It's nice being able to look at the moon but once morning rolls around, it gets way too bright

It was built in 1945 by the owner of the apple orchard that used to be here. Plank roof is still in great shape.

They finished up today





They did a great job and they fixed the flashing at both the chimneys. Whoever put this roof on had no idea about flashing. The original roof was an asbestos tile and when they went to the three tab shingle, they just put the shingles OVER the flashing instead of under each layer.

It's done right now and looks great ( plus no more skylight )
