Did you try 8" spring bolts? I put them on mine to lower the ride height. I always liked some cars with a bit of ass end squat. Factory spring though.

Yes. In fact the bolts are as long as they can be and still be safe. They need to not exceed the diameter of your rims. (So, if you lose a tire, the rim hits the road before the bolts).

The composite springs have slightly stronger spring rate (grand touring) and much lighter. This may have something to do with it. Also, my tires are not very tall.

I also think someone hogged out the fenders at some point - comparing to yours, there is a little lip of fender above the wheel opening. Mine has none.

With regard to tires, I hate my tires. Goodyear Comp T/A's - they are hard and slippery but H rated. I'd go with a softer tire when these wear out (if they ever wear out...)

It appears your rear wheel openings have been both radiused and slightly flared...I like the look, myself. And I was just poking jealousy with the Bimini comment... I will likely never own a midyear even though the 63-67s are near the top of my personal "most beautiful automobile ever" list.

I've heard ride height complaints from everyone that installed a composite spring. It is a trade off. I'm sure you know they sell a flare repair kit. You get that missing lip and body line back like the factory look.

I did the resto mod about ten years ago. The car was stripped down to the fiberglass. We had so much mechanical work to do (complete new chassis) we decided against replacing fenders.

We did bring all the sharp lines back (they were sanded off from eight paint jobs...) but overall the body was very solid.

The biggest issue was hidden frame rust. We only saw the extent of it after the body was removed. It was dangerously nuts.

In 18 months my team of hot rod and racing engineers (auto club....) restored and/or replaced every part, bolt, washer and nut on that car. Including motor, transmission, interior, power steering, gas tank, on and on.

We even redid the welds on the chassis and added some gussets. My cousin was a chassis engineer.

I added power disk brakes, anti sway system, poly bushings and Koni classic adjustable racing shocks.

Since then, I've rebuilt the motor to make it more streetable. The original 1970 LT1 was a PITA and would not run on pump gas. After the machine shop mistakenly wiped the serial number on the deck, I decided to just treat it like any heavy duty small block instead of a museum piece (they only made about 1700 of them in 1970).

I kept all the LT1 goodies (pink rods, crank, windage tray, high rise aluminum intake, heads) ported and polished, swapped valve train out for all rollers, increased cam duration and lowered compression.

Still puts out about 390-400 hp @ 4500 but runs on pump gas. More importantly it runs great and almost never leaves me stranded.

Takes turns off the freeway at 70 mph flat as hell. Disclaimer: too flat. I overdid the anti sway system so it gives no warning when it loses adhesion. It pulls a lot of G's but when it breaks, it's a surprise every time.

Compared to other C2's, it is tight as a drum. No sloppy feeling. Tight steering (replaced rag joint with hard joint). Brakes are a big improvement but it skids like a bitch.
