Megabus: Who Has Ridden One? What Did You Think?

The Chicago Megabus stop is a few blocks from where I work. There are some interesting looking characters waiting to board those things.

I failed to mention that I can smell the Megabus stop when I walk outside the office.

Bus story. Many years ago some friends and I took a trip to South Padre Island. At the airport we had to hop on one of those terminal busses that shuttle people around the airport. Anyway, one of the guys was shitfaced and puked on the bus. Every time the bus driver hit the gas, the hurl would spill down the center isle to the back of the bus. Every time he hit the brakes, the hurl would spill up the center isle to the front of the bus. There was even a dude on the bus with the dry heaves because of the smell.

Pro tip: don't puke in the center isle of the bus.

Man, I was on a KC-135 one time, and this dude started hurling (thank goodness in a barf bag), but the temp controller on that damn thing was stuck on furnace, we had a blown right side hydraulic system, had already declared an IFE, airplane is all over the place, and I gotta smell puke. That is the closest I ever came to throwing up on a plane. I nearly wanna heave thinking about it.

Rent a car for 100 bucks, that way you can stop and eat where you want when you want and take how long or short you want. Also do you really want to have limited use bathroom? That 50 other people in a confined space use?

Well, for those who have waited with anticipation, here's the followup: I'll be catching a ride with a college student driving back from NO to Houston. He'll pick me up and drop me door to door. I'm buying the gas for his rental car. Guy seems on the up and up, and uses proper spelling and grammar in his texts/phone calls. So, if you don't hear from me in a couple of days or so, watch your local milk cartons for my picture.

Seriously, though, this is about the best scenario I could foresee.

My 20 yr old daughter takes it to & from NYC sometimes. The people who ride are sketchy, but she's never had a problem.
