Ground zero for me can be traced back to ONE record. Machine Head. The first time I heard MH I was at a friends house. His older brother had the record, and was a complete metal head long before the term was coined.
Even before the Zeppelin obsession kicked in and never let go, there was Machine Head. |

They are sooo under rated. I've seen 'em twice and they are in my top 5 of all time. I got to chat with Ian Gillan in a bar in downtown Buffalo for a good 15 minutes. He is a very interesting and engaging person to talk to. He did Stevie Nicks back in the day, btw..., So he said. |

I must have spun that a million times in the first month that I owned it. I was hooked from there, so I guess that would have been ground zero for me. |

I think Smoke on the Water MIGHT have been the first song I ever learned on my dad's guitar, along with a million other kids.
1962 Gibson Melody Maker double cutaway through a Maestro amp. When the tone wasn't distorted enough I bought a Big Muff. |

First song me and everyone of my friends learned as well. Easy tune to play with one string but never got good at playing both E & G at the same time.

I go back a looong way for my favorite. Doris Day's version of Sentimental Journey:

May have to do this one in parts, but I'll start with a few from my collection.
Many I had to list the full album because most of it was excellent. Scott Part 1 in no particular order:

Big fan of Deep Purple as well; and a fan of all the versions of Rainbow. My enthusiasm is somewhat tempered knowing that it's almost universally acknowledged by anyone who's met him, that Blackmore is, perhaps, the biggest a-hole on the planet.
