I bet it will be written in the contract that the character dies...

But think about it. Say you were going to do a spin off film or series based on Han Solo... what better way to generate nostalgia and interest in the character? You kill him, make Chewbacca and every person with a heart cry about it, and then a year later say "see where it all began... a boy... a wookie..."

Precisely. Actually I read that it's a done deal about Ford getting killed off early in the movie. Ford apparently has no real attachment to the franchise because he said, "I didn't understand the movie then, and I don't now." As I recall, the Carrie Fisher, the original Princess Leia, will also be in the movie, and she meets a similar fate. I don't know about Chewbacca's fate.

My bet is that they take it pretty good. Harrison Ford is 70-years-old, may be 71 or 72 by the time this movie gets filmed. Although he's an icon in the role of Solo, it'd be like watching Sean Connery try to play Bond again. He couldn't handle the physical activity of the role, so he neccesarily must be relegated to one of two fates: A background role or be killed off. Being killed off is the much more dramatic way to do it, and I think fans would prefer that.

But I don't want to see Harrison Ford reprise the role of Han Solo no more than you guys want to see Carrie Fisher replay Princess Leia.

I don't want to see that either. Their appearances are just attempts to attract moviegoers by appealing to their nostalgia. In the original movie, it was exciting to think about Carrie Fisher not wearing any underclothes (George Lucas reasoned that people in the future didn't wear underclothes, and the crew got to watch her from underneath in the closing scene where she speaks from an elevated podium), but not at her age now.

Let's see - Christopher Lee was what? 113? And they made him a lightsaber wiz who mopped up the hanger bay with Obi-Wan, Anankin and then went toe-to-toe with Yoda in his prime.

I bet they could make Ford leap tall buildings and get killed by a jealous Leia when she catches him bedding a set of Andorian triplets.

"Latino Review has managed to out-scoop practically everyone on Star Wars Episode VII news since the new trilogy was first announced and now it looks like they've got a whopper. Whether it was the size of the paycheck or the amount of Curmudgeon Juice he was promised, Harrison Ford has finalized a deal to reprise his role as Han Solo in Episode VII."

I wouldn't concern myself with the wherefors and whyhows. Any plot being discussed would be speculation at this point. You'll know when real plot points are leaked, they'll be headlines on the local news.

They've made it plain the plan is to get The Main Gang back. To me that's Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and the Droids. Lando might be back too, but isn't integral, IMO. Having The Main Gang involved is what makes them VII, VIII, IX.

They've also been pretty insistent that The Expanded Universe, the books, comics and games, is not where these stories are going to come from.

But, they'd be stupid not to make use of characters fans are screaming to see on the screen, like the Solo Twins and Mara Jade. I'm betting the Expanded Universe will make an appearance that way.

Im more concerned with the soundtrack, i want more music like in Episodes 4, 5, and 6...the music in 1, 2, and 3 was kinda flat for me.

Scenes like the end scene in episode 4...at the ceremony....very powerful music.

Or the imperial march...in any scene, powerful.

And more importantly...less CGI...more real actors. I swear to God and all things holy, if they made these movies using only technology and supplies available in the late 70's...it would be so awesome...

Lastly..who is left to be the main antagonist. Vader is dead, Anakin went good, Palpatine is dead, Sidius, maul, etc...all vanquished. We need a lead antagonist with a powerful voice, a sinister presence that commands fear and respect...that when he walks through the doors and exits the smoke, you shit yourself before he even speaks a word...
