I worked on one for a guy, needed an upper rad hose, and the plastic...clamp/fitting/elbow that goes into the radiator.

My cost for just the parts, was over 375 dollars from BMW...

A week later the low oil pressure light came on, I pulled the sump and it was caked in crust/grime, I pulled the cam cover and the only metal you could see was the blued cam lobes. The shit had actually encased the chain and gear almost completely.

under 75K miles on it, he was good about servicing it, he got it at 35K miles, and 40K later the engine was toast. Ichipped off the crap I could, cleaned it up, put 3 bottles of seafoam in the pan, a quart of kerosene, and some fresh oil and ran it a while, then dumped the pan again when the low oil light came on, the pan was once again packed with shit. We did this 3 times and it finally took, changed oil to 10W30 and some lucas and sent him on his way...he came back a week later to get the oil and filter changed again, it was black, filter was full. 5 of these, 1 a week...and it seemed to be good. Held oil pressure somehow, ran fine. He traded it around 80K miles...I feel for whoever ended up with it though. I want to say it was a 325i or 328i? something like that.

A good friend of mine had a BMW. She doesn't drive much, so it had low mileage when it went out of warranty. She bought the extended warranty (for a hefty price), and found that when anything went wrong, the warranty seldom covered it. After 3-4 times of this happening, she traded the car in. The end came when one of the headlights messed up and the fix was about $900 and, you guessed it, it wasn't covered by the extended warranty. The car only had mid 40s mileage on it at trade in.

The good news? The extended warranty did cover oil changes.
Sounds like she bought the BMW Maintenance Plan, which is different from the extended warranty.

There's gotta be a less expensive solution.... That's insane . Have you tried any of these?

What year?
No promises, but I'll check the yards out around here to see if there is one available.
You should try the NY/NJ area flood cars... I don't know where you would start to look, but maybe that would be an option..

Suggest hitting all the Bimmer forums parts-for-sale sections...I've sold wheels and sheit there in a matter of days.

I've checked bimmerfest.com and e60.net. Keeping an eye out, it is super annoying having that lid not close.

So far I've tried 2 different types of double sided tape, but nothing will stick to the car.

While I wish I had black interior, I don't know how that would look with the light colored seats.

I have been giving SERIOUS thought to this though:
