Seriously.



Yesterday and today I start hearing some sort of broadcast through my audio system. Today I figured out the Montery Bay Aquarium is doing live streaming broadcasts (I googled some of what they were saying and found the broadcast)

Here's the weird part. At first I thought I had a browser window open somewhere. So I checked and didn't. Then I quit Firefox. Still hearing it.

Switched audio output to headphone jack (bypassing mixer) nothing.

So it was not coming over Internet. Checked all busses on mixer - all were muted.

My computer (MacPro tower) is patched into the mixer tape in and outs.

I started shutting off equipment attached to mixer and it still continued.

I narrowed it down to the cable going from the line out on the Mac to the tape in on the mixer.

I think it was RF with the cable acting as an antenna.

So I call the Aquarium. Not to complain - just curious.

They aren't broadcasting over the air - its direct to the Internet. (remember - it is not coming over my Internet connection)

WTF?

Totally shut me down today - could not do any audio. Me and the Aquarium guy are stumped. We think somebody might be relaying the broadcast over RF and is over the FCC limit.

The mystery continues.

BTW, has anyone been to the Montery Bay Aquarium? It is crazy awesome.
