Default So they're finally gonna make a Z06 convertible...

The 427 Collector Edition starts with a Corvette Z06 convertible, including its 427 cubic inch 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine. Displacing the same 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque, the V8 is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.

From there, the 427 Collector Edition features standard Magnetic Selective ride control and staggered 19/20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 tires from the ZR1. The wheels themselves are lightweight machine-face Cup designs introduced in 2012 and they feature special gray-painted pockets.

Drawing from the range-topping Z06, the 427 features a carbon fiber raised hood, carbon fiber fenders, carbon fiber floor panels. A carbon fiber front splitter and rocker panels are also included.

The carbon bits slice the 427 Collector Edition’s curb weight to 3,355 lbs., which Chevrolet says gives it a class-leading power-to-weight ration of 6.64 lbs. per horsepower.

As a result, the 427 Collector Edition should hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and it will run the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds.

Outside, the 427 features a unique Arctic White exterior that recalls the first 1953 Corvettes. Inside, however, it gets a Blue Diamond leather interior with suede accents. A blue convertible top completes the look.

Not all 427 Collector Editions will be identical; Chevrolet will offer 2LT, 3LT and 4LT trim levels and each will have its own unique VIN sequence. Chevrolet has not announced pricing or an on-sale date.

I like the looks of it, wish they offered other colors.

Hit LeftLaneNews for further news of the 60th Anniversary stuff for the whole line.

I wonder what the Daytona and Indy Pace cars will look like in 2013... you know they'll both be Corvettes for the 60th...

That first line almost makes it sound like you might be able to just buy a Z06 Convertible, and not have to get the 427 Edition to have one... doesn't it?

"The 427 Collector Edition starts with a Corvette Z06 convertible..."

That indicates to me that they start with the latter and ladle some gravy on it to make the former.

But, when are they going to up the HP on the Z06? 505 is getting a little long in the tooth when everybody else is adding ponies.

Not a Z06 - its the GrandSport's steel frame and weighs a skosh under 3400.

Basically it's a GS with a 427.

Makes sense. You're not buying this car to track it anyway.

I think it would be cool if they built a comp prep version. Light and fast, with brake, oil, diff and trans coolers. No nav, no power seats, no leather, no sound deadener, no massive stereo, no luxury crap. Coil overs and high rate shocks and harnesses. Unfortunately if they did build it, they would be snapped up by speculators and never see the track like the Cobra R was.
Just a pure sports car would be cool instead of a luxo-barge.

Well, they did make a Z06X-Cage,Carbon Fiber brakes, Aero and all the racing bells and whistles. Saw it at Baltimore GP. I was in lust. Never saw a price for it.

you know what "special edition" usually signifies...

last year of a production run - before a major change.

Hello model-year 2014 and the C7

I'm already planning a day off for the Detroit Auto Show... Jan 2013, for the introduction.

When they write;

"Displacing the same 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque,"

the author takes a credibility hit in my eye.

It "develops" the same 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque, or it "produces" the same 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque, but not "displacing."
