My oldest buddy suggested that, but I can't find an aluminum intake, carb of any type, and then an old HEI with weights/vacuum adv. etc.....

Can't speak for the newer ones, but I have a Holley Pro-Jection setup on the 63 since the 90's that has been 100% rock solid and trouble free.

That's most likely wishful thinking, but you could always hit up ebay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist etc.

You can purchase Chinese HEI distributors on eBay for $100 or less. Summit Racing has a house branded carb that's less expensive than a Holley or Edelbrock.

Jacksonville Craigslist showed an Edelbrock intake in Ocala @ $100.00....
Shop around the stuff is out there.
Ebay search SBC HEI shows a new complete with cap and rotor for $48.00 free shipping.
If I had not recently put a running when pulled Quadrajet from a 1979 350 equipped pickup in the recycle bin I would send it on for free.
You are not trying very hard.

The easiest carb I remember was the AFB of course, so will it fit one of the manifolds with the dual bolt pattern ?? I may be interested in a Qjet, but they tricky to fix.....got that ONE guy on CF that specialized in them....but not hear about him/them for long time now.....

Talking about Lars, and I believe he is still doing some select carb work.

Edelbrocks are basically a Carter copy. Any of their manifolds will work with their carbs.

Gene, I have one of those chinese HEI's, I've offered it to you before just for shipping costs. It's basically brand new, just used it to break in my big block so I know it works fine. Only reason I'm not using it is because I need a small cap distributor to fit my project. Hell, I'll even through in the wires I got for it

The vette runs shitty, rich as hell, and dead miss on one cylinder.....I drive it one mile to store and back and it's even worse.....thing is that the computer I am using is 1227730 GM from early 90's a speed density system, no air flow meter in front made plumbing much simpler.....

and so my son in Ca. suggested another computer setup...watta damn mess of wiring age 78 here so my skeleton bitches every damn time I need do anything on the cars.....took meTWO hours to do a simple thing to the pass door power window.....

Check across from Powedertech on Industrial way (area behind the harley dealer of Wells Rd). I think the guy who specialized in carbs is still there and has good pricing.
