There is very hard to see writing. I never got to read it, but says something like Colt's MFG. And city/state where made. Some numbers too. It's worn too much to easily read. A guy bought it at an auction for $200.

Possibly early 20th century duty sidearm of the military or police, has the lanyard ring associated with that style weapon, looks like a .38 Colt.

I don't like it for shooting 45LC. It's better for the .410 shells.
