Or he may have been diagnosed but doesn't take his medications. That happens a lot, according to folks that I know in that field.

Personally, I'd put him on a bus to NYC, or Martha's Vineyard, with the promise of a $ 1,000 gift card upon arrival, and that as long as he doesn't return to Texas, the charges will not be filed. Hospitals used to do that, dump their patients in other cities upon discharge.
