I made money on the dot com craze because I worked at a dot com...

I made money on the crypto-currency because I bought some on a whim and lucked out, the craze for crypto took off and I jumped out.

As for Tesla, I bought in....sold before the last "pop" and bought back in when it was under 200. What is driving it? People that believe in what they are doing, you can't look at the rest of the market as there is no one else doing the same thing as them in the market. They stand alone and are creating a market all their own - look at JP Morgan and Cornelius Vanderbilt. Additionally, Tesla is at an advantage over other car makers because everyone else is having to spend money in order to catch up to what Tesla has already done.

The 7000 mark....I will be out WAY before that time but I will tell you, until there is real competition on electric vehicles and batteries, Tesla is going to stay on top.

The competition is finally here in 2020, and it will increase in 2021. And 2022. And so on.

I don't care about Tesla's extra range right now. And in fact, Porsche tested at longer range than advertised. Tesla pushes their batteries to the limit, without care to the consequences down the road after a few years for owners/buyers. Just like everything else with that company. The CEO commits securities fraud repeatedly and gets away with it, competent people who are brought on board as officers or legal quickly turn around and leave, customers with repair issues are left in the wind for months, parts of the car fall apart because of shoddy materials and manufacturing, etc., etc., etc.

There are only so many Tesla cultists in the world to buy their cars. 5 years from now, if I wanted to buy an EV, why in the hell would I risk buying a Tesla when I can buy a Toyota and know the car isn't a quickly slapped together p.o.s. that will fall apart, that I can go to a dealer and get any repair issues solves within days instead of months, etc., etc. Just because I can allegedly get a little more range on a road trip? And even then, to matter it would have to be a road trip of a certain length to matter. If for example a Tesla has 400 mile range, a Toyota 300 mile range, then the difference would not matter if you were traveling 299 miles. Nor would it matter if you were driving between 401 and 599 miles because both would have to stop once.

Their advantage of making their own batteries will be short lived as well. Other manufacturers are going to just do the same. GM and LG are forming a partnership for example to build their own.

They are a car company. The current price will not be justified even if they start actually selling as many cars as Volkswagen Group.
