Default Driving the colt

Here's Karen starting Prince on some drive training a couple weeks ago.
He's 16.5 hands at the withers and all spit and vinegar.
I'm glad to see her getting up into his shit and putting him through the paces.
I need to get her to show me how to drive train them. She's pretty damn good at it.

Enjoy

Nice mane !

It amazes me how a girl can take an animal that big and train it into the palm of her hand.
I'd be scared sh!tless....

Actually that's the 18-135. It gives me a little more depth of field than my zoom. She had that long drive line, so there was some distance between her and the horse. The 18-135 let me cover some of the wider shots and still zoom out a little bit. I should have stood in the middle of the field though and let her drive around me. I was still at the limits of that lens and some to the pics weren't too crisp.

Ain't that the truth.

I gotta give myself credit though.
It took her 20 years to do it.

You gotta buck every once in while though, so that you keep her guessing a little bit.

He'll be two in May. Can you believe that? He's half Friesian, and a mix of thoroughbred and draft on the other half. She got him from a breeder in Iowa. She told me that he's got some snooty names in his lineage, but I don't remember who.

Yes, he's been gelded.

I do like Friesians. From a distance, or in pictures.

I don't think that he's going to have the classic Friesian look though. He has too much mix in him. He can't be registered as a Friesian. He was black as night up till about six months, then started do change color. His undercoat is silver. Several horse savvy people said that is the eventual color that he'll have.

He's rambunctious as hell, needs constant scolding. LOL
