Drag radials
Curious, how many on this forum use drag radials on the street.
I quess the next question how many folks on this forum have even drag raced their car ,one time? Me, yes to both questions |

I put the Nitto N555RII 's on my '74 last summer (all 4 corners), could not find any 15" diameter tires so I bought these, they ride great and stick like glue, haven't driven in a heavy rain yet though

I think my drag racing days are behind me now. If I were to take up the sport again, I'd do it in a solid-axle vehicle. Not suggesting that's what you or anybody else should do. And, no, I've never run drag radials on my C2.

I had them on my 1966 Hemi Coronet. They were MTs and hooked well on that 10 second car but bad in the rain. Corvettes are SPORTS cars not designed for 1/4 mile drag racing but rather road courses type racing. The independent rear suspension is weak and with more power and lots of traction you begin to break rear ends. Extra power with limited traction (a lot of wheel spin) your rear end will survive. So if you have a lot of power you need to learn how to soft launch. I would stay with regular radials or at best Avons or similar.

Well, you can disagree if you like but unless you are willing to change h entire rear end set up for any seriously hard launches you will be breaking any Corvette independ rear suspension even with any available upgrades to it. Good that you have abandoned the idea of drag racing th C2 your other car will do a better job of it.
