Buy what you need then buy a couple of feet extra and practice on the short piece.

Yep, that's an option as long as the tubing rounded and not beat up too much.

Not always a good idea to practice on the template.

true.

this will be just like house plumbing copper right?
I just cut the pipe with a standard clamp-style pipe cutter, then de-burr it? slide the fitting on, flare it out, and wrench it on? do I use teflon tape?

Is there anyone in the south Houston area that is bored this weekend and wants to get some free booze?

Any truth to this?
There are tool marks on the line.
Wouldn't that decrease volume, but increase pressure?

I thought the same thing. It'll definitely increase backpressure.

If you really do need to decrease the pressure, I'd suggest getting a larger diameter fuel line.

I don't know if I need to decrease pressure. I could go with a 3/8 diameter, but would I run the risk of too much fuel?

I don't know. If it was me, I'd just replace the crimped hose with factory sized steel line and see if the problem goes away.

(yes, I am aware the crossfire is missing).
and further down the line, it does this:

nice, right?

I refuse to let the car and DSPO beat me, so I guess it's time to get some fuel lines

question: the current fuel line is 1/4 inch... do I keep the same diameter, or can I go bigger. I also think I'm going to go with the steel-braided stuff vs. the hydraulic lines, and just replace all the way to the tank.
Sorry I"m so slow/bad at photo edit, or I could show you what to look for...

the old install of a choke/heat riser is missing, the carb looks as if it's meant for a crossover tube/vacuum fed heat riser choke pull off, and the manifold mounted choke spring is missing...

I can't say jack about the plumbing on the fuel except to say if the carb is not flooding or starving at WOT...leave it for now....

all the carb lines I EVER seen on a GM car have been 3/8 OD...

go with steel. no tape. make sure your flares are not split or have any burrs. go with braided from fuel pump to carb. It's actually easier to run the steel lines anyway. I ran mine inside the chassis tube on my 64 for extra protection but probably not needed. Use some clips with rubber stuff on them to attach so they don't rub on the line.

It's not a hard job. take your time on the bends.

Yes, the choke is missing. Since i live in southeast texas its not really much of an issue. The only problem the choke has led to is if i floor it, the vacuum will cause the choke valve to close, suffocating the engine.

The build number on the carb points to it coming off a dodge in the mid 80s.

the reason i got to looking at the fuel system in the first place was that I took the car out on wed. and in the middle of driving fine, it started coughing and stumbling like the choke was closed again or a fuel filter was clogged. In fourth gear the engine would completly stall out while driving, if i drove in any other gear i had to keep my foot buried or it would die, but in either case it was still coughing the whole time, but the rpms never dropped either, the stumbling never caused it to die. It ended up dying enough times that the battery drained and i had to push the car home.
